Some August pics

Smiley's provincial park

War canoe challenge on Lake Pisiquid, August long weekend. Rob, Becca, Dione and Ange were rowing; Steph was on shore with D after falling down some stairs on the day of practice (whee). Missed all the fun - as well as the tipping!
the finish line!

rob's "new" 1984 something or other... good thing he got the gas leak fixed!

our favourite beach again
Maggie The Dog
our favourite neighbourly pool - about half of the last 2 months has been spent in here, on the hot days!

ange's dad's cabin at lake george, with dawson putting about 5 pounds of bird seed into the water for the ducks over a 3-hour period

July 11 - our new favourite beach

This is our new favourite beach in Nova Scotia (that's right, that's NS!!) but sorry, I'm not allowed to say where it is--invitation only!! You'll have to come here to visit and then we'll take you there!

Swallowtail in our yard

we found a giant swallowtail butterfly on the driveway in mid-june, and dawson was enchanted with it. it wasn't flying very well, so it hung out on our hands for long enough for dawson to take it to all the neighbours' to show off his treasure.

Trail Running

Ange & Becca, conveniently pushing Dawson's stroller on our trail run in Mt Uniacke Estate on the weekend. First trail run ever, I think we managed about 7k and it was fantastic!! D loved it even more than we did--he loved being an Emperor and being lifted over all the deadfalls blocking the trail (as soon as we put him back down, he'd say "More!!")

A minor deadfall--no chainsaw required

The trail was fabulous and smelled wonderful, and we saw mayflowers blooming! Hooray for spring!

Dawson's first hollow tree - helloooooo!

Steph's eureka moment

Today I have just figured out that I can post videos to this blog, hence my eureka moment. So I'll put up a few of our favourite videos from the last year, with apologies for the quality of some of them (our digital camera is on its way out, so its videos can be a bit sketchy). Anyway, hope you enjoy!

Some of our favourite videos...

Aug 23, 2008 - where we discover just how quickly Dawson picks up on the things that we do, and are slightly alarmed.
